Calendars approved for 2026–2027 and 2027–2028

Following community feedback and approval by the Northwest ISD Board of Trustees, instructional calendars for the 2026–2027 and 2027–2028 school years are now finalized.

Both calendars closely resemble the district’s current academic calendar, reflecting input from families and staff. Major holiday breaks will continue to occur during the same general timeframes each year, and both calendars include teacher planning days and student holidays in October and February.

Northwest ISD approves instructional calendars two years at a time in response to prior feedback from families, who shared that advance notice helps with planning vacations and work schedules. As in previous years, both calendars feature traditional-length Thanksgiving, winter and spring breaks. Additional student holidays following the days immediately after winter break and spring break are also included to support teacher preparation.

Next year, the school year will begin on August 12, 2026, and conclude on May 21, 2027.
